Wilmington NC Real Estate, Mortgage Information

09.30.08

There was a great article in the Star News today that addressed the ease of getting mortgages.  The article mentions what we have been hearing the last few days regarding the tightening up of credit.  However, that is not so in the residential mortgage market.  If you have a good credit score, a down payment and income that can be verified it should not be a problem to obtain a mortgage.  There are still some programs that offer a lower or no down payment which is appealing to first time home buyers in Wilmington NC.  The fact that interest rates are very low and home prices are excellent makes NOW a perfect time to buy a home in Wilmington NC.  To learn more about mortgages or Wilmington Real Estate contact me at 910-431-9395 or go to my website, www.livingbythecoast.com.

Wilmington NC Real Estate, Landscaping Tip

09.23.08

If you were not happy with the color of your hydrangeas this year now is the time to remedy that.  If your soil is acidic your blossoms will be blue and less acidic soils bring pink blossoms.  If you want blue flowers add sulfur.  If you prefer pink use lime.  A 1/2 cup of sulfur around the base of the plant will change the PH of the soil by about a point.  On the same note, a cup of lime will raise the PH by about a point.  If you have a wood-burning fireplace the ashes could be used in the place of lime.  It takes 5 to 6 months to gradually change the PH of the soil so make changes this month.  To learn more about this topic or Wilmington Real Estate contact me at 910-431-9495.
