Great news for Wilmington International Airport! The airport will be receiving 1.7 million to improve the runways. U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre made the announcement that the money would be going to various improvements. Coming soon to Hampstead will be a new shopping center which will be a part of the growing development along Highway 17 in Pender County. Lowes Foods, a trendy restaurant and a salon are a few of the stores slated to be built. The Hampstead Towne Center is scheduled to open next summer. The City of Wilmington received 1.2 milion dollars in grants to make improvements to the amphitheater at Greenfield Lake and today was the grand opening. According to the Star News the improvements made were a new awning over the stage, a new dressing room, bathroom and concession stand.
