Wilmington NC Real Estate, Nine Time-Saving Moving Tips

06.26.07

Here are nine time-saving moving tips from Lowe’s:

  1. Clean your house!  De-clutter and get rid of all unwanted items by donating to a local charity or consider having a yard sale.
  2. Get organized!  Make a list of all people to notify of your move, change your address and make sure to inlcude your bank, vet and doctor.
  3. Cancel & reorder!  Make another list of all of the utilities to be changed over.  Don’t forget things like your lawn service, window cleaners, pest control and other services you use regularly.
  4. Be “mover friendly”!  Be available for the mover’s questions on both ends of your move.  Make an inventory and make sure the driver knows all the details and directions.
  5. Be safe!   Make sure there are no hazards such as things that can be broken or tripped over.  Make sure arrangements are made for children and pets on moving day.
  6. Know what you are packing!  Label each box in detail including the contents and the room it is being moved to.  Pack essentials to have ready accessible at your new home.
  7. Know what not to pack!  Lighter fluid, paint and pesticides are a few items that a mover will not transport.  Arrangements should be made to transport these items yourself.  Keep all cash and jewelry with you.
  8. Check and double check!  Check all rooms, storage and attic space to insure that everything has made it onto the moving truck.  If anything is damaged during the move make sure to tell the moving company and take photos.
  9. Keep smiling!  Moving can be managed with the right attitude and the right preparation.  You will be able to unpack at your leisure so enjoy your new home.

Wilmington NC Real Estate, Downtown Wilmington Retail

06.25.07

Downtown Wilmington could sustain more business according to today’s Wilmington Star News.  According to the paper more marketing and infrastructure improvements can help downtown businesses compete better with suburban shopping malls.  Wilmington Downtown Inc.’s annual economic report for 2006 stated that downtown could see an economic impact of more than $61 million in the near future as a number of projects in Wilmington transpire.  The arrival of PPD’s new headquarters which brought 2000 employees downtown, the building of the proposed convention center and the condo growth downtown are a few of the projects that open the doors to economic growth.  The report said that downtown should be able to support more than 300,000 square feet which translates into approximately 96 new stores.  To learn more about this exciting news for Downtown Wilmington or any Wilmington Real Estate contact me at 910-431-9395.

Wilmington NC Real Estate, Luxury Home Must-Haves

06.22.07

I was reading an article in MSN Real Estate and it talked about the new trends in must-haves for luxury homes.  One of the things mentioned was bathrooms with saunas, heated floors, towel warmers and new technology that integrates lighting, heating and security.  Also, the other new trend is to use eco-friendly woods and non-toxic building materials.   If I had that bathroom I may never want to leave, it sounds like having a spa in your home!  To learn more about this topic or if you need any information about Wilmington Real Estate contact me at 910-431-9395.
