Wilmington NC Real Estate, Oyster Roasts

12.18.06

Oyster Roasts are very popular in the Wilmington area, especially this time of the year.  We have attended 2 in the last week and the weather has been perfect!  Oyster Roasts are traditionally held in any month with an “r” in it so that means September through April.  They are a great way to get friends and family together in a casual atmosphere.  To learn more about this topic or Wilmington Real Estate contact me at 910-431-9395.

Wilmington NC, Holiday Recipe

12.15.06

My husband loves to make Chex Mix during the holidays.  On the Corn Chex box this year they have a “Taco-Seasoned Chex Mix” recipe.  It is great and he has already made a few batches. The best part of it is that it only takes about 10 minutes to prepare. Here is the recipe if you would like to try it!

  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups bite-size cheese crackers
  • 2 cups small pretzel twists
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 package (1.25 oz) Old El Paso seasoning

1.  In large microwavable bowl, mix cereals, crackers, pretzels and peanuts.

2.  In small bowl, mix oil, water and taco seasoning mix.  Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated.

3.  Microwave uncovered on High about 5 minutes stirring every 2 minutes, until mixture begins to brown.  Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool.  Store in airtight container.
